Introduction The Razor Sharp Sounds course provides knowledge and skills for people looking to get into DJ'ing or DJs looking to improve. Whatever music genre you're into, whether it's trance, electro, house, hip hop, R'n'B or funky house, drum 'n' bass, we can teach you all the basic skills needed to start mixing and DJ'ing in clubs and bars. The beginners course is mainly for people who never done DJ'ing before or people that have some idea of what to do but do have the skills yet to do it. For the intermediate course this is for DJs that know how use the equipment and mix but want to learn more and improve their skills in every area. Here is a outlook of the course: DJing for beginners Depending on the individuals ability and how fast they pick things up the outline for the course is as follows: understanding and setting up the DJ equipment-in this part of the course you will learn the different types of equipment such as vinyl turntables CD turntables mixers needles slipmats weights adjustments headphones amplifiers and speakers. You will also learn inputs outputs cables and connections and how to set them up. Song structures and cueing up songs You will look at some musical styles and understand patterns and recurring parts of the tracks which will help you with cueing and construction of the track Beat mixing This is main part of the DJ'Ing course and most important, in this section you will learn how speed up and slow down tracks by using your fingers or the pitch control on the side of the deck, you will learn how to match rhythms and beats and combine them together making one song cool eh. Mixing techniques This part of the course concentrates on teaching you how to blend two tracks together using the various faders you will find on DJ mixer. You will learn and understand advanced-techniques of cutting from one track to another. You will also be shown some basic scratch techniques that would to put the finishing touches to your Dj sets. Advanced song and set structure In this section you will understand when to mix a track into another. You will learn what tracks work best with others by listening to and analysing melodies, basslines and vocals. This will in turn help you produce and plan a great sounding DJ set. Recording your DJ set/mix The final part of the crash course looks at recording your DJ set using a combination of the latest hardware and software. You will learn how best to record, edit and master your final mix using audio editing software such as Steinberg Wavelab, burn copies onto cd and prepare cd labels. The Razor Sharp Sounds course is normally on a one to one basis as we believe that this is the best way to learn and progress through the course but you are more than welcome to learn in a group as well but be aware that this the will take longer than the one to one. Unlike other DJ'ing courses Razor Sharp Sounds not only gives you a CD to present to clubs and bars we can give advice on setting up your own events and their is also an opportunity to play out live with Razor Sharp Sounds if we feel your up to the task and of course if you feel up to the task as well! this also could lead up too you joining our team! When you finished the course you will have a mix cd to take with you and certificate stating what you have accomplished.
